Exploring Subsurface Irrigation for Lawns, Shrubs & Tree’s

Room: 209/210
Time: 11:30am – 12:30pm

Exploring Subsurface Irrigation for Lawns, Shrubs & Tree’s is an innovative session introducing you to a new kind of watering program to keep your plants healthy and strong without seeing a drop of water on sidewalks, driveways, parking lots – places where plants don’t grow. Subterranean watering technology gets water deep into the root system. With new water laws and restrictions coming into practice on January 1, 2025 you’ll want to be armed so your property is ready to save 50%-75% on your irrigation.

Attendees can learn about common pitfalls and best practices to ensure successful installation, retrofits and operation of these systems. Subsurface irrigation systems are designed to deliver water directly to the root zone of plants, which significantly reduces surface runoff and evaporation. Although the concept is a sophisticated watering technique we will offer practical advice on how to slowly retrofit landscapes, lawns, sport fields which will help mitigate environmental issues such as nutrient runoff, soil erosion and save water!

Learning Objectives:

Water Efficiency: Subsurface irrigation systems deliver water directly to the root zone of plants, significantly reducing water loss due to evaporation and runoff.

Disease and Weed Reduction: Watering below the soil surface minimizes the moisture available on the soil surface, which can reduce the incidence of diseases and weed growth.

Reduced Labor and Maintenance: Once installed, subsurface irrigation systems require less frequent monitoring and adjustment compared to traditional surface irrigation methods.

Flexibility and Customization: Subsurface irrigation systems can be tailored to meet the specific needs of different plants and soil types.
