Over the past twenty years, Green Technology has brought together educators, facilities leaders, policymakers, and solution providers to accelerate progress toward healthier environments and more resilient communities.

Wade Crowfoot, California’s Natural Resources Secretary
Wade Crowfoot was appointed California Secretary for Natural Resources by Governor Gavin Newsom in January 2019. Secretary Crowfoot oversees an agency of 26,000 employees charged with protecting and managing California’s diverse resources. As a member of the Governor’s cabinet, he advises the Governor on natural resources and environmental issues. He most recently served as chief executive officer of the Water Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation, Crowfoot served in Governor Jerry Brown’s Administration as deputy cabinet secretary and senior advisor to the Governor. In that role he led the administration’s drought response efforts and spearheaded several of the Governor’s priority initiatives to build California’s resilience to climate change. Crowfoot received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996 and earned a master’s degree in public policy from the London School of Economics in 2004, where he graduated with honors.
Matt Henigan, Deputy Director of Sustainability, Department of General Services
Mr. Henigan previously was CalRecycle’s Deputy Director for Materials Management and Local Assistance. He directed the department’s interactions with local government programs for waste and recycling and oversaw CalRecycle’s programs for extended producer responsibility, electronic waste, waste tires, market development, grants, and loans. Previously Mr. Henigan served as the Deputy Secretary for Sustainability at the California Government Operations Agency, where he directed efforts to reduce the environmental impact of state operations, including buildings, vehicles, and purchasing. He has also served as the Sustainable Energy Advisor for the City of Santa Monica.
California Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi
California Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi represents the 66th Assembly District, located in the Los Angeles South Bay. An educator, former Torrance School Board president, and former Chair of the Assembly Education Committee and the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education, Muratsuchi has been a longtime champion for public education. Muratsuchi was the lead author of Proposition 2, the $10 billion statewide school bond measure approved by California voters in 2024. He also authored the Fair Pay for Educators Act that proposed a 50 percent pay raise for educators, the California Freedom to Read Act to fight book bans, and the California Safe Haven Schools Act to keep immigration enforcement out of schools, among many other education bills.
